About Pennypurr

Hello and welcome to the home of GCCF registered Pennypurr British Shorthairs. My name is Helen and I am a small hobby breeder of the gorgeous British Shorthair Cats. I live with my husband Andrew in Iver Heath, Bucks and own and run Catkins Boarding Cattery.

I decided to start breeding British Shorthairs after going to the Southern British Shorthair Cat Show and seeing all the wonderful cats there. I was lucky enough to meet a lovely lady and breeder called Lynne Bull whose big British Blue boy won his Grand Champion on the day, we got talking and my mind was made up.

Lynne invited me to go and see her cattery and all her breeding cats and gave me a wealth of advice. I loved her bi-colour and calico cats and decided that I would like to concentrate on these colours. I was privileged to be able to get a fantastic cream and white breeding queen from Lynne called Tannu Candyfloss (Flossie) and a year later she was mated to Lynne’s handsome blue boy Grand Champion Kolinga Harvey.

Flossie gave birth to four girls, three blue creams and a blue tortie and white. We have kept the blue tortie and white called Pennypurr Bella and hope she too will have some gorgeous offspring. Bella was entered in the kitten class and won her first Open and Best of Breed at the Southern British Shorthair Show in 2011 when she was just 8 months old.

I am a member of the Souther British Shorthair Cat Club. I breed for type and health and only have a couple of beautiful queens who will only ever have one litter a year each to make sure they are in perfect condition and the kittens get the best start in life.

All our kittens are bought up in our house with our other cats and two Staffordshire bull terriers and will be used to the noises of a busy household.

All Pennypurr kittens go to their new homes with:

  • Full course of vaccinations
  • A four generation pedigree
  • GCCF Registration
  • Four weeks insurance with Petpla
  • A Caring for your Pennypurr kitten booklet
  • A sample of food and litter your kitten is used to
  • A blanket and toys your kitten has slept on and played with

All Pennypurr kittens are registered on the non-active register and under GCCF rules; no progeny from them can be registered.

I will be forever grateful to Lynne for the advice and support she has given and continues to give me and of course for entrusting me with Flossie. I am also grateful for the ongoing advice and help I receive from Adrian Miller of Teknocat British Shorthairs.
